FAQs

What services do you offer?

1

I offer a range of services to fit each family’s unique needs including: prenatal feeding consultations, feeding evaluations, early language evaluations, feeding therapy and early language therapy.

My goal is to help make feeding support as convenient as possible. Therapy frequency is a joint decision between myself and you. We’ll do what fits your individual schedule whether that is weekly sessions or monthly.

What is a prenatal feeding consultation?

2

A prenatal feeding consultation is a one-hour consultation to discuss ways to support feeding and pre-feeding skills particularly if you are expecting a baby with a known diagnosis that has a high likelihood of impacting feeding such as:
- Gastroschisis
- Omphalocele
- Congenital heart defects
- Risk of Premature Birth
- Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR)
- Neurological conditions
- Chromosomal or genetic syndromes (ex: Trisomy 21, Trisomy 18, DiGeorge Syndrome)

**this is not an inclusive list.

This service is great for any expecting parent, but is ideal for parents expecting a baby with:

If you’ve already met with a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialist or your OB has discussed feeding or breathing challenges post-birth, this session is for you.

Why choose Holistic Feeding Therapy?

3

I practice responsive feeding, which means treating your infant not just as a patient to be fixed, but as a person with their own cues, preferences, and pace. Rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all protocol, I listen — to your child's signals and to your family's needs and desires — and build a plan around what actually fits your life.

This approach is shaped by both my clinical training and my own experience as a NICU parent. As a board-certified neonatal therapist with 14 years of experience across feeding and early communication, I bring deep expertise to complex feeding and swallowing challenges. But I also bring the perspective of someone who has sat where you're sitting — wanting desperately for my child to thrive, and wanting to be seen as a competent, capable parent along the way. That combination — clinical depth and personal understanding — is what I hope makes working with me feel different.

Logistics

Do you accept insurance?

1

I currently do not accept insurance, but I'm happy to provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement.

Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

2

Since I do not accept insurance, no referral is required! I do require all of my clients to have a primary care provider (pediatrician or family physician) in the event that a medical concern arises.

What should I expect to happen during an evaluation?

3

For a feeding evaluation, plan on scheduling 15-30 minutes before a feeding if your infant is on a predictable feeding schedule (this includes tube feeds). I will gather a thorough feeding and medical history, assess your child’s oral structures and function and observe a feeding. During the feeding I will likely offer some real-time recommendations and/or strategies. After the feeding is complete, I’ll talk to you about feeding impressions, recommendations and steps moving forward.

For early language evaluations, I will gather a thorough medical and developmental history, assess your child’s language skills either using an informal assessment or a standardized assessment. To help your child feel comfortable during the assessment, please try to have a quiet space ready for us to work in.

How long does therapy typically last?

4

This really depends on your child's needs. I offer flexible scheduling — from weekly sessions to less frequent check-ins — so treatment can adjust as your child progresses. Some families see meaningful change in just a few visits, while others benefit from ongoing support over several months. Either way, I'll always be transparent with you about progress and when it might be time to graduate from therapy.

I work with each family to find a treatment frequency that fits both your child's needs and your family's schedule and life.
